Project Swinea: London

4You stare out of the London Eye and look down at the beautiful city and see the tower that Peter Pan flew by — just like in your dreams.

London has many new attractions but also many old ones that you enjoy going to over and over again. I was in London for four wonderful days and I hope I will have another opportunity to go there again.

The London Eye is the biggest ferris wheel in the world and is 450 feet high. A whole ride takes about 30 minutes but it´s worth it. Go to www.ba-londoneye.com for more information. From up there you can see the whole city. It´s best to go around sunset or 7 o´clock pm.

Another fun place to go is to the changing of the guards. You can sit on a statue and enjoy the sights or stand in front of the palace and try to get a glimpse of the horses galloping by. It’s free and very exciting.

A family fun place to go is the Tower of London. The guards make history fun by joking around. Did you know that there is a legend that if the crows that live at the Tower leave, the whole English empire will fall apart? In the gift shop be sure to buy some candy canes. They taste delicious.

Have you ever dreamed of a fairy tale drenched-land full of gorgeous buildings like Big Ben? Big Ben is London’s center of attractions for everyone. Remember the times when you watched Peter Pan and dreamed that you could fly like that. In London you can at least feel like you’re there watching the scene happen right in front of you.

Imagine skipping over a beautiful lake, looking up to the sky and then glancing over to the side and seeing the Thames. The Tower Bridge offers a great overview with the Tower of London next to it. From there, take the fun subway called the Tube. But personally I wouldn’t go under the Thames. I’d go over Tower Bridge.

When I went to London I saw two musicals: Mamma Mia and Mary Poppins. I recommend reserving as early as possible so that you get good seats. My personal favorite was Mamma Mia. It was fun and there were very good singers.

If you enjoy animals and fresh air, St. James Park is the right place for you. You can stroll along the lake and enjoy the fresh air. Sometimes if you sit down and have food like peanuts with you, the squirrels may come up to you and sit on your lap to eat! They’re really cute.

I hope you’ll like London. Personally I con’t wait to go back.
