TraveLetter | February 2006

The internet's premiere online travel e-zine — www.justsaygo.com
Editor, Denise Dube — denise@justsaygo.com

“ We wander for distraction, but we travel for fulfillment.”
French author, Hilaire Belloc, 1870-1953

It's February already, the groundhog came out quite a few days ago, took a look at the sky and decided to sleep another few weeks — or maybe months. While he — or she — sleeps, we travel. In fact, since the JSG TraveLetter started 13 months ago our staff has wandered through Mexico, along the Caribbean, through the Middle East, and around Europe. Where have you been? And better yet, where are you going.

TRAVEL EASE — Women's Microfiber Classic Raincoat by Travelsmith
Product review by JSG Producer Marina Farrell

A great-looking raincoat made for travel. Packed up into a small parcel and folded into the carrying case, it adds little to your suitcase load. Rain and wrinkles shed quickly, just as claimed by Travelsmith. The longer coat length is my preference and really keeps the cold rain out. My only complaint, the microfiber picks up lint like a very large lint brush. A bit pricey at $189, it's a worthwhile investment when you realize you don't have to lug a heavy raincoat around. Like other Travelsmith raincoats it is available with a removable liner for all-season travel. For more information visit: www.travelsmith.com

TRAVEL TIP
Travel enough and you begin to know exactly when your ears will – or will not – pop. For some, the constant compression and decompression can causes ear aches that turn into infections. On a recent flight, I watched a seatmate insert blue spiral cones into his ears. Eventually, I asked what they were and better yet, what they did. They were, he said, Ear Planes, or plugs that work against flight air pressure and decompression – and more importantly, he said, they work. Before he found them he was plagued by ear aches and infections after every flight. Less than $10, these hollow little plugs with a small white ball inside, release pressure during takeoff and landing. Ear Planes have been tested and approved by the country's top pilots. They come in a convenient storable tube and are usually located behind the counter at any local pharmacy or in sundry shops at most airports. Make sure to read instructions before use. Ear Planes have to be reinserted at least one hour before landing.
